Stroll around Munich's traditional Christmas market on Marienplatz square and find everything you could want and more. For Nativity scenes, head to the Kripperlmarkt, one of the largest of its kind in the world. There is live music every day on the town hall balcony. Discover the meaning of words such as Kletznbrot and Fatschnkindl on cultural guided tours. Kids can play and do handicrafts free of charge at the 'Himmelswerkstatt', while the Krampus run brings Bavarian traditions to life. You can also visit the Christmas market held by artists and artisans in Schwabing, Munich's bohemian district that goes back over 1,200 years.
