Christmas Markets

Wolfenbüttel

Festive medieval charm in Wolfenbüttel; copyright: Tourist-Information Wolfenbüttel
The Christmas market in Wolfenbüttel is an intimate and charming festive tradition that dates back more than 420 years. It takes place on the historical market square in the town centre where, illuminated by thousands of fairy lights, you can find everything your heart could desire. How about a delicious mug of glühwein in the enchanting winter forest? The whole place is like something out of a picture book. Wolfenbüttel's very own Christmas elves, Wölfchen and Büttelchen, host a daily Advent calender raffle for younger visitors and can take them on a guided fairytale tour with storytime. On Sundays there are children's fairytale craft workshops. Anyone searching for that elusive special gift is bound to find it at the craft market held in the Kommisse (former ducal provisions stores) on the three weekends before Christmas.
