Christmas Markets


Lübeck

Fling wide the door, unbar the gate is the opening line of a popular German carol that hints at the seasonal entertainment on offer in Hanseatic Lübeck. In the old quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage site, five brick-built churches provide the backdrop for evocative Christmas concerts. Maritime Lübeck has three Christmas markets: the medieval Christmas market (27 Nov - 23 Dec) outside St. Mary’s Church and the two arts and crafts markets, one in the Hospital of the Holy Ghost (28 Nov - 8 Dec.) and one in St. Peter’s Church (26 Nov - 14 Dec).
