Zwickau

Zwickau, at the foothills of the Erzgebirge mountains, is home to one of the prettiest Christmas markets in Saxony. Every year, the town bathes in the glow of the giant Christmas tree lit up by 600 lights and the traditional Christmas pyramid. A remarkable range of festive goods is on offer alongside the kids’ craft hut and hand-carved Nativity scene. Zwickau Christmas market in the town’s old quarter is perfect for an evocative Christmas break. Every day at 4.30pm, Father Christmas comes along to say hello to the little ones. On 13 Dec, you can see the miners’ bands parade, a time-honoured tradition with marching bands and traditional costumes.
