Landau

The historical market square in its winter coat
Landau is renowned for its wines and gardens, but every year the scent of pine needles, sweet waffles and glühwein marks the arrival of the traditional Thomas Nast Christmas market, named after the famous German- American cartoonist who was born in Landau. The friendliness of the local people is truly charming. Every day, 35 craftsmen demonstrate their skills in two heated halls, while children can visit the Himmelsbackstube to bake Christmas cookies.
