Baden-Württemberg is a hugely diverse holiday destination. The Black Forest and Lake Constance are already famous far beyond Germany's borders. One of the most impressive things about Baden-Württemberg is its very different regions. Baden-Württemberg has something for everyone - whether it be a holiday in the Swabian Alb, a day trip to the castles and palaces of the Palatinate, walking in the Odenwald forest, a wine tour through the Heilbronn-Franconia region or sightseeing in the regional capital of Stuttgart.

Cities

Several of Baden-Württemberg's towns and cities are well known all over the world. Heidelberg tops the list, but the region also boasts Stuttgart, Freiburg and Tübingen. Town such as Aalen on the German Limes Route, Ravensburg, Ulm and Ludwigsburg are equally attractive with culture, architecture, shopping districts and old quarters with quaint alleyways.

Regional specialities

Baden-Württemberg is a haven of fine food with a wealth of top-class restaurants, but the region also produces excellent local specialities consisting of basic, hearty fare. Black Forest gateau, Maultaschen and Spätzle pasta dishes are famous.
