Nature & greenery

Bonn Poppeldorf Palace, Copyright Tourismus & Congress GmbH Region Bonn
The Rheinaue park is in the geographical centre of the city and has a 45km network of footpaths, a Japanese garden and a vineyard. The botanical gardens have eleven greenhouses and the world's largest water lily. With a combined length of 29 kilometres along both banks, the Bonn Rhine promenade is the longest continuous stretch of promenade along the Rhine.

Rheinaue park
The green heart of Bonn is a park that runs along both sides of the Rhine. Covering an area of 160 hectares, it is almost as large as Bonn city centre. One of its major attractions is Auensee lake, where boats can be hired. The Japanese Garden, apiary, sensory garden and Rheinauensee lake are also very popular.

Botanical gardens
Bonn University's botanical gardens behind Poppelsdorf Palace were created in the early 19th century, with greenhouses and open spaces replacing the royal gardens. Thanks to Bonn's mild Atlantic climate, around 3,000 species of plant from the earth's temperate latitudes thrive here. In total, more than 8,000 different plants are cultivated on the 6.5 hectare site.
