The federal state of Lower Saxony, with its regional capital Hannover, lies in the charming region between the Ems and Elbe rivers to the west and east, and the North Sea coast and the Harz mountains to the north and south. The seven East Frisian islands line up like pearls on a string just off the North Sea coast, each one a recognised North Sea health resort with its own particular flair as well as a spa and holiday destination.
