Special tip
Bucking broncos, galloping steeds and nail-biting duels - during the Karl May Festival (June to September) Bad Segeberg is in the grip of Wild West fever.

Between the North Sea and the Baltic

Woods, hills and lots of water - welcome to Holstein's "Switzerland" between Kiel and Lübeck.

Great Plön Lake, the largest lake in Schleswig-Holstein, is dotted with many little islands. Prinzenbad beach on Prinzeninsel island and the beach in Bosau are popular with families: both are sandy, shelve gently to the water's edge and are supervised by lifeguards. Incidentally, Prinzenbad beach can only be reached on foot, by bike or by boat. The Great Plön Lake boat tour ferries passengers to Prinzeninsel island, as well as to Fegetasche, Plön, Aschberg and Dersau, which also have beaches. Nearby Trappenkamp adventure forest near Daldorf will delight the whole family. It has a 1,700m² forest and water world where children can build dams and waterways, an outdoor butterfly garden visited by many butterflies in the summer and a high ropes course that takes young and more mature adventurers right up to the highest treetops.
