Food & drink

Hardly any other region of this size can boast such an abundance of excellent, award-winning restaurants No longer just an insider's tip, Baiersbronn has everything your heart, tastebuds and eyes could desire, with culinary delights the perfect complement to fabulous scenic backdrops and the finest of climates. Traditional inns are the best places to sample the Black Forest specialities.

Hotel Bareiss Restaurant
This gourmet restaurant is one of Germany's top establishments for gastronomes. The excellence of their inventive cuisine is complemented by perfect service and a wine list that features over 800 different gems. Morning kicks off with a lavish breakfast buffet, while in the evening diners can choose between a popular à la carte menu, specialist international buffets and champagne dinners. The surroundings of the "Kaminstube" room bring more than a touch of Provence to the Black Forest, while the "Dorfstube", where guests dine in two original 19th century farmhouse parlours, is particularly snug.

"Hotel Traube - Restaurant Schwarzwaldstube"
A restaurant that is at the forefront of fine dining in exquisite surroundings. Every day the top chefs let their creative talents do the talking, conjuring up an eclectic and sumptuous selection of dishes, while an impressive wine cellar stocking over 700 fine wines has the perfect complement to any meal. Culinary events are also hosted at Hotel Traube, including a cookery course in the "Schwarzwaldstube" kitchen with one of the house chefs, where you can unlock the secrets of grande cuisine and learn techniques used by professionals.

"Hotel Sackmann - Restaurant Schlossberg"
This hotel restaurant enjoys an idyllic location just a stone's throw from the Murg River. Skilfully drawing on influences from oriental, Mediterranean and French cuisine, the head chef has fashioned his own unique style. With a wooden-beamed ceiling and vibrant colours this homely restaurant is an unmistakable example of Black Forest architecture. In the "Anitastube" you can enjoy mouth-watering specialities such as Black Forest trout, käsespätzle (cheese noodles), maultaschen (pasta parcels) and hearty Black Forest ham, as well as the ubiquitous kirsch schnapps. A slice of the famous Black Forest gateau is the perfect accompaniment to a fine coffee in the garden café, while the cosy bar with an open fire is the ideal place to round off a great day.
