Suggested excursions

Bad Segeberg is situated in the heart of "Holstein's Switzerland", 30km from Lübeck, 46km from Kiel and 52km from Hamburg. The Baltic coast and Hansa-Park theme park in Sierksdorf are also nearby (40km). The Plön lakes (41km) are ideal for cycling tours and other leisure activities.
Lübeck - once the "Queen of the Hanseatic League"
Parts of the old quarter are UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites. Main attractions include the famous Holsten Gate. The former fortifications now house the town history museum. Other sights include the Church of St. Mary with its fallen bell, the Buddenbrooks House at Mengstrasse 4, the Günter Grass House and the medieval "Gangviertel" (lanes quarter) in Hartengrube.
The Hansa-Park in Sierksdorf is Germany's only seaside leisure and amusement park. With numerous themed areas and a variety of shows and events, it is a great day out for the whole family. The park also has a number of attractive cafés and restaurants.
Great Plön Lake
Covering an area of 30km², Great Plön Lake is the largest lake in Schleswig Holstein. Its numerous small islands were formed in 1881 when the water level dropped. With its many lakes, expansive forests and open fields, the whole of Holstein's lakeland area is an ideal destination for young and old alike.
