Swimming in the city
City beaches bring summer right into the city. With a style of their own. In Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt and Berlin. Every summer sees the emergence of these mediterranean parallel worlds with their distinctive city feel.
Palm trees, white sand, straw parasols - a "tropical" atmosphere in the heart of Germany's most attractive cities! Each beach uses its location to best advantage. For example, at the beach on the river Spree, Berliners dipping their toes in the cool water have wonderful views of the Chancellery: members of parliament mingle with beach volleyball players and children fresh from the bouncy castle. Hamburg's Lago Bay, on the banks of the river Elbe, has several themed areas offering relaxation with a different ambience. Frankfurt's rooftop City Beach, which offers panoramic views of the Frankfurt skyline, has a children's pool where little ones can splash while their parents enjoy a drink at the bar. At Cologne's city beach, with its beach loungers, hammocks and delicious snacks, you'd think you were by the seaside - a truly relaxing family day out.
