Shopping

Münster Prinzipalmarkt, copyright Presseamt Stadt Münster
Münster is unusual in not being dominated by chain stores. The historical merchants' houses in the old town are the place to seek out unique and individual wares - particularly at Prinzipalmarkt and in Salzstrasse, but also at Rothenburg, in the Kiepenkerl quarter and at Ludgeristrasse.

Old town
Besides shopping, Münster's old town is also a great place for relaxing and taking a stroll. There are a number of individual stores selling a range of high-quality goods, especially in the historical merchants' houses at Prinzipalmarkt and in Salzstrasse.

Flea markets
A particular attraction for bargain-hunters and collectors, the flea market along the promenade from Hindenburgplatz square to Lake Aasee takes place every third Saturday of the month between May and September.

Attractions for young people
Those on a tighter budget can enjoy a tour of the student district on the city's outskirts. In addition to a number of second-hand shops, this is the place for skater fashions.
