Hockenheim
Formula 1

The number one motorsport event in the world makes an annual stop at Hockenheimring, attracting thousands of visitors. Out of all the racing series, Formula 1 is the most demanding, both in terms of the constructors' financial muscle and technological capabilities, and the drivers' racing skills. On 18 different circuits around the world, points are up for grabs that could later bring both a driver and his team the coveted world championship title.

Battling for pole position
Every year the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim attracts around 120,000 fans, who come to cheer on "Schmui" and the boys and their favourite team. Every driver has his own particular techniques for tackling the circuit, and as the race unfolds, you'll find it hard to keep your eyes off the almost 4.5-km long track with all its hairpin bends and chicanes. Automobile enthusiasts should also pay a visit to Hockenheimring's Motorsport Museum, where they can see all kinds of other racing cars.

Art & culture

As you might expect from a town with an international reputation and a high quality of life, Hockenheim also boasts a rich and varied cultural programme. The Pumpwerk is an arts centre for all ages, and there's always something going on in the Stadthalle, a multi-purpose events venue. In Heidelberg meanwhile, the musical programme in the Karlstorbahnhof is among the best in all of southern Germany.
