Walhalla is about 10 kilometres up the Danube from Regensburg. Visible from miles around, the marble temple was built in the Doric style for King Ludwig I by Leo von Klenze in the 19th century and is based on the Parthenon in Athens. In the middle of the Glass Route – between Kötzting and Bodenmais – is the 1,000 year old village of Arnbruck. This is the location of the Weinfurtner Glassmaking Village with its spacious salesrooms and exhibitions, the “Kunst &Form” gallery and two cafés.
