Permanent exhibitions

Poster for the permanent exhibition: Babelsberg - Aspects of a Film Town in the Potsdam film museum
Permanent exhibitions offer interesting insights into the town's history and other specific themes. The House of Brandenburg and Prussian History, for example, features tales from Brandenburg and Prussia in its permanent exhibition.

"Babelsberg – Aspects of a film town" in the film museum
The story of the Babelsberg film studios is told for the first time in the Potsdam Film Museum, with a gallery of the most popular stars and cinema films between 1912 and 2004. The Babelsberg studios are still making films for television and cinema today, adding to a body of work that is already 3,000 films strong. But it is not just the films themselves that embody the zeitgeist: every costume, every smile exudes the spirit of the time when it was captured by the camera. The finest objects in the museum's collections are displayed in the new exhibition which presents film as part of contemporary history and the way we live. But the exhibition also takes us behind the scenes. A tour of the exhibition and an interactive information system also bring visitors face-to-face with their favourite films and film stars.

"A land and its people - tales from Brandenburg and Prussia" in the HBPG
The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through 900 years of Brandenburg and Prussian history. Its widely cast net not only takes in issues of art history and cultural history but also shows the social history and everyday lives of the Brandenburg people. Original objects as well as photos, films and multimedia stations tell of the eventful and moving past of Brandenburg, Prussia and the people who lived here.
