Permanent exhibitions

Marbach, the well-known "Schiller town" on the River Neckar, will be joining in the Schiller Year celebrations in 2009 to mark the 250th birthday of the poet and writer. The permanent exhibition in the Literature Museum presents priceless works by writers and scholars. The museum is closed on Mondays.

Literature Museum
The Literature Museum, or "LiMo" as it is affectionately known, is aimed at a broad public. With more than 1,000m² of exhibition space, the permanent exhibition presents important literary works of the 20th and 21st centuries, taken from the collection of the affiliated Germany Literature Archive. The finest examples of the 1,100 literary and scholarly works housed in the archive are on display in the "LiMo", including the manuscript for Kafka's The Trial, Döblin's Berlin Alexanderplatz, Rilke's Carousel, Hesse's Steppenwolf and Kästner's Emil and the Detectives, to name but a few.
