The 250km Frisian Mill Tour is the best way to see the region's most famous landmarks as well as the fabulous natural scenery. The route follows dike tracks along the Wattenmeer coastal mudflats, taking in verdant areas of reclaimed land, clinker-paved lanes, hedge-topped embankments common in these coastal heathland areas, and straight-as-an-arrow fen drainage canals with their bascule bridges.
