Shopping

The shops on Sylt are a must for lovers of tea, honey and jam. Also worth a look are the art and craft shops and studios, traditional in the village of Rantum. Similar delights are also found hidden in the side-streets of the tranquil resort of Keitum. The shopping here is as diverse as the towns and resorts themselves. Kampen is home to elegant jewellers and designer boutiques with their luxury wares, while a wider, more down-to-earth variety of goods can be found in the lively resort of Westerland.

Kampen
Stroll through the shops on Strönwai, Kampen's most well-known shopping street, and those in the Kurhausstrasse, Hauptstrasse and "Zur Uwe Düne", and you really get a feel for how cosmopolitan and sophisticated Kampen is. Hardly any of the big names in the world of high fashion, chic jewellery, elegant shoes or exclusive accessories are missing. The number and quality of art galleries in Kampen is also astounding; they are well-known among art lovers for their exquisite works by regional and internationally renowned artists.

Westerland
The island's capital is a great attraction for shopping enthusiasts The pedestrian areas are where the action is, mainly in the Friedrichstrasse, Paulstrasse, Strandstrasse, and their connecting streets, which are packed full of all kinds of shops, boutiques, brand-name stores and smaller, individual souvenir and leisure wear shops, as well as art galleries, craft workshops, cafés and restaurants.

Keitum
Freelance artisans have traditionally settled in the tranquil village of Keitum and its surrounding hamlets in Sylt-Ost. Come along and watch these potters, weavers, goldsmiths, glassblowers and tile makers fashion their unique, sought-after creations. Their artistically acclaimed work is sold in the local galleries or in workshops.
