Places of interest

Volkswagen's Autostadt with its automotive exhibition complex and visitor center is a highly successful and impressive theme park and Wolfsburg's biggest attraction. The town's planetarium offers a truly special way of experiencing the universe, regardless of the weather. The planetarium goes way beyond the traditional characteristics of a museum, cinema or observatory, it is a 'theater of stars'. The FIFA Women`s World Cup Stadium Wolfsburg is an atmospheric venue which regularly hosts Bundesliga matches. Home to the VfL Wolfsburg soccer club, the 30,000 capacity stadium also hosts concerts. The official guided tour of the stadium is very popular, giving visitors a comprehensive glimpse behind the scenes. Wolfsburg's city center is easy to get around on foot and the vibrant pedestrian zone has a fair amount of fountains and light installations. The center also boasts trendy fashion boutiques, Germany's first designer outlet center and relaxed, modern shopping facilities housed in breathtaking architecture.

Art & culture

Wolfsburg is also home to a variety of fascinating cultural attractions. The impressive Wolfsburg Castle - built in the Weser Renaissance style - not only gave the town its name but has remained its cultural heart. At "Phaeno", one of Germany's largest science centers, the world of science can be interactively explored in the huge 'exploratorium', where even those who think science is boring will be amazed. At the Volkswagen Museum visitors will once again get to hear the much-loved muffled rumbling of a VW Beetle boxer engine.

Leisure

The town's public parks are almost twice the size of Central Park in New York and offer plenty of easily accessible sport and fitness opportunities. Allerpark on the shores of lake Allersee offers fun leisure pursuits and tranquil relaxation. The BadeLand pool complex is a recreational center for aqua-fitness, swimming and wellness enthusiasts. In the summer, the residents of Wolfsburg go waterskiing and wakeboarding at Wake-Park, possibly Germany's most beautiful waterski park.
