Albrechtsburg Meissen

Situated on the left bank of the River Elbe this late gothic castle complex rises high above the old-town of Meissen. Built in the late 15th century this architectural masterpiece is classified as the very first palatial castle of its kind in German building history. In 1710 at the command of August the Strong, Europe's first porcelain factory was set up here which produced the world-famous Meissen Porcelain more than 150 years. Since 1881 Albrechtsburg Castle is a museum that houses many artistic wall paintings in style of historicism, in addition to today's permanent and varying exhibitions.

March - October daily from10:00 am till 6:00 pm; last entry allowed at 5:30 pm
November - February daily from10:00 am till 5:00 pm; last entry allowed at 4:30 pm
24th, 25th, 31st December and 10th - 31st January closed

Adults: 3,50 €, Reduced: 2,50 €; Children 7-16 years: 2,00 €; 6 and under free;
Family Pass: 9,00 € (2 adults + children)
