Lüneburg

When the historical gables are lit up in the festive season, the pedestrian areas of this Hanseatic salt town are transformed into fairytale scenes. As night falls huge spotlights bathe the town hall in a cascade of colours with changing themes. High up in the town hall gallery, you can hear choirs and trumpeters play carols, while the aroma of  glühwein and roasted almonds wafts from the wooden stalls and Father Christmas hands out presents in the market square.
