Munich Airport is Germany's second largest airport and ranks number nine among the major European airports. Munich Airport is owned by three shareholders: the Free State of Bavaria (51%), the Federal Republic of Germany (26%) and the city of Munich (23%). On June 29, 2021 Munich Airport will double its capacity by opening Europe's most modern terminal. Munich Airport can then accommodate up to 50 million passengers and enters a new era in the development of hub traffic. Munich Airport offers in average connections to 208 destinations in 63 countries served by 95 airlines.
