Schwerin boasts a wealth of places of interest. One of the most splendid is its fairy-tale castle known as the "Neuschwanstein of the North". With a magnificent museum and orangery, it is set in romantic parkland together with the neo-baroque Mecklenburg State Theatre. The market square with its old town hall, gabled houses and lion statue is another attraction.
