Heligoland
Tall Anna

This remarkable natural feature at the northern tip of the island is a distinctive Heligoland landmark. It is a freestanding rock of red sandstone that has been shaped by the wind and the weather.

A rock amidst the waves
This huge red sandstone rock rises almost 50 metres out of the sea. A dramatic column shaped by the wind and the weather, it is Germany's only freestanding rock and a distinctive Heligoland landmark. The rock was originally part of the island but is now separated from the rest of the cliff by the sea.

Museums

Heligoland has a historical museum illustrating what life was like for previous generations of islanders. Visitors to the Marine Biology Institute come face to face with the underwater world of the North Sea and its fish, lobsters and crabs.
