Situated in the Free State of Saxony, the city of Leipzig is the heart of the economic region of south-east Germany. Leipzig Exhibition Centre focuses on cars and mobility, books and new media, construction and architectural preservation, the environment, medicine and consumer goods. It is one of Germany's largest exhibition centres attracting over 10,300 exhibitors and more than one million visitors. For the 45 events held every year the Exhibition Centre rents a total of around 450,000m² of exhibition space, which corresponds to an occupancy factor of 9.1.

The futuristic-looking new Exhibition Centre with its dazzling steel and glass architecture is situated to the north of Leipzig city centre off the A14 and near Leipzig-Halle airport. It has a railway station served by regional train services and can also be reached by tram. The Exhibition Centre is connected to a 23-room conference centre that can accommodate up to 3,700 people.
