Nature

The Gardens of the World in Marzahn's recreation park have developed into a green oasis in the eastern part of Berlin. The Gardens of the World contain several Asian gardens, with the Chinese "Garden of the Regained Moon" being among the largest of its kind in Europe.

More than half of the district of Treptow-Köpenick consists of forest or water. The many waterways, islands, parks, meadows, tree-lined avenues, hills and nature conservation areas make the region an attractive destination for excursions and holidays in the middle of Berlin.

Starting at Grunewald railway station, Grunewald Forest with its many lakes extends all the way to the edge of the city. Many people in Berlin use these urban woods for leisure activities.
