Consideration for others on the water

Good seamanship is essential for any relaxing holiday on or beside the water.
Show consideration towards others: people in motor boats need to be especially careful about canoes, as a wave from a boat passing too close or too quickly can easily make them capsize. Offer assistance to other boat users in an accident or emergency.

Nature conservation
Germany's water landscapes and natural scenery are exceptional, so do all you can to help preserve their beauty. Keep the water clean. Make sure it is not polluted by fuel, oil or waste. There are plenty of waste disposal points in all boating areas.

Whatever you take on board must be taken back onto land. Entering or getting too close to reedy areas and overgrown banks is putting plants and animals in danger. When you moor, please use places designed for that purpose. The slower your speed the better, especially near the water's edge. Please observe speed limits.
Germany's water scenery includes a number of nature conservation areas and wetlands of international importance which call for a particularly sensitive attitude towards nature. Please be especially careful to observe the regulations in these areas.
