German Nature Parks and Reserves

Natural parks in Germany are extensive, scenic, specially created areas offering a model habitat for a range of plants and animals.
In addition to nature conservation, German natural parks also play an important role in preserving local customs, traditional crafts, historical settlement patterns, and regional architecture.
Germany's nature reserves achieve an exemplary balance between the interests of nature conservation and the needs of holidaymakers (walking, cycling, water sports, visits to cultural monuments...). Providing opportunities for people to come face to face with nature is one of their main objectives.
Nature reserves are havens of tranquility - perfect for getting away from it all. There are over 100 nature reserves throughout Germany, each with a part to play in the preservation of local cultural traditions.
