Organic Food

Germany can reflect upon a long tradition of horticulture. For centuries, families in the countryside have cultivated vegetables and fruits and have composed a traditional and unique cuisine. Today, every region provides a great variety of tasty specialties, which both locals and visitors enjoy.

The trend of organic food has allowed Germany to rediscover its roots with naturally grown food. Many hotels and restaurants provide "Bioprodukte" - the German word for organic food products - for their guests. Organic farms offer food tastings allowing you to enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables that are in season. Many of them also offer accommodation and visitors should make sure they do not miss an authentic and tasty German breakfast.

If you choose to travel by motor home and prepare your own meals, you can buy farm produce at stalls along country roads and at farmer's markets or even pick your own fruit directly from the farm's orchard.
