Holiday villages, holiday apartments and holiday homes offer accommodation in beautiful parts of Germany, either for a short weekend break or a holiday for all the family. Holiday apartments have their own bathroom and a basic kitchenette or a complete kitchen. Depending on size, there may be one or more bedrooms. Many holiday apartments also have a balcony or terrace.

Many holiday apartments, holiday homes and private rooms are classified by the German Tourism Association (DTV). Their aim is to establish uniform quality standards throughout Germany and to create transparency for visitors.
The classification system grades properties from one to five stars and its ratings are valid for three years. There is a list of around 150 criteria for self-catering holiday accommodation and private rooms, all of which are inspected personally. For example, the type of property (e.g. farmhouse, terraced house), its leisure amenities, the number and type of rooms, their furnishings, the services provided and the area around the holiday accommodation are all checked. The star classification system provides you with a reliable measure of the quality and level of service you can expect from the accommodation you have chosen.
