Boating in Eastern Germany

Combine world-class culture and a stunning nightlife with a romantic trip along Berlin's and Brandenburg's water ways. Even though a boat driver permit is required for the inner-city sections of the Spree and Havel, more than 124 miles are open to those drivers without license. From Berlin you can also find your way to the Mecklenburg Lake district or the Scharmuetzel Lake, Brandenburg's largest lake. Only a few miles outside the city you will feel nothing of the buzzing life of the capital. Instead, you are surrounded by marshland, forests and moors, inhabited by numerous species of water birds and fish.
