Barrier free living in Freiburg

The German Association for People with muscle diseases (DGM) realised in 1999 an unique offer in barrier free living for people with a physical handicap: You can spend a few days in a modern apartment - whether you take it as a model for planning your own new home or just stay a couple of days in a nice residence which is adapted for the needs of the handicapped. Under everyday conditions you can experience special technical and structural alterations to reach more quality of life.
The apartments are situated in the Southwest of  Germany in the city of Freiburg im Breisgau (district Waltershofen). This is an idyllic village about 10 km away from the historic centre of the city. Because of the convenient location Waltershofen offers an ideal starting point for day trips to the Alsace in France, to Basle in Switzerland or to the Black forest. Waltershofen itself invites even people with wheelchairs (asphalt tracks) to long walks through the vineyards.

Services
Two barrier free apartments, in their height extendable beds (electric), barrier free shower with shower seat, handles, fittings with long levers. Extendable kitchen with dish washer, oven with integrated microwave. The bigger apartment is furnished with a lift, constructed on the ceiling.
Apartments suited for 1 to 3 and 2 to 4 persons respectivly, additional beds for kids possible.
