Community Hotspots in Eastern Germany

The former East of Germany has a lot to offer. In the state of Saxony, south of Berlin, you will find Dresden, one of the most historical German cities and a real gemstone located on the Elbe river. Right in the city center, the Baroque "Zwinger" palace with many sculptures and rich ornamentation is a symbol of the cheerful and erotic joy of living. Wander around and visit the famous Old Masters' Picture Gallery. The Church of Our Lady is a symbol of reunification and freedom. A secret spot for romantics is the Rose Garden which forms a riverside promenade along the banks of the Elbe in Dresden-Neustadt.

Dresden's subculture can best be explored in the Neustadt borough. Bordering the streets with their night bars and pubs, the gay sauna "Man's Paradise" awaits you for some relaxation after a long day of sightseeing. Memories of Miro's Barcelona come to mind during a walk through the original "Kunsthofpassage" where the rainbow flag greets visitors to the "Queen's" bar. Regular parties including the annual "Techno Boat Parade" keep Dresden's nightlife dazzling.

In Leipzig, music and history fit perfectly together, whether you like to listen to classic tunes in the "Gewandhaus" concert hall or start your night with beat sounds in the "Moritzbastei". This underground fortification has served as Leipzig's most popular student's club for almost 30 years. Visit one of the marvelous museums like the "Museum of Fine Arts" with over 55,000 drawings and objects. Dive into the Art Scene of Leipzig and get inspired at the "Spinnerei", the plant of a former cotton mill which now houses a community of artists and their galleries.
