Osning Route
In Germany's Healing Garden

The ceramic delights of the Hagen pottery museum's exhibition room

People who prefer not to stay in one location have the option of taking excursions by bike or by car, or a trip on the museum railway through the region. In the royal spa of Bad Iburg, a leading hydrotherapy spa, there is the chance to go rowing on Lake Charlottensee and visit the impressive castle which dominates the skyline from every direction. In the spring, when the area around Bad Iburg is a sea of cherry blossom, the part of the route which passes through the Holperdorp Valley to Hagen, with its long-established pottery tradition, is a real feast for the eyes. "Kirschhagen" (Cherry Hagen) is what local people affectionately call this delightful little health resort which dates from the 18th century.

The town hall in Osnabrück, where the Treaty of Westphalia was signed

"Borgloh Switzerland" is walking country. Holte is a picturesque "mountain village" with a pretty church settlement. The scenery is especially charming along the Bissendorf section of the route and, with many aristocratic residences, the fascinating architecture continues as far as Osnabrück. There is still a great deal more to do and see. So, let's get going!
