Charming Tauber Valley
Touring and cycling through the Tauber Valley

Friends enjoy a cycling tour through the Tauber Valley

This well-signposted 100-km classic route along with its numerous offshoots is ideal for cycling and inline skating enthusiasts, as well as for walkers and lovers of art, culture and wine. Cycling along predominantly asphalt paths through the idyllic countryside of this magnificent river valley is a true delight. Running from Rothenburg o.d.Tauber to Wertheim am Main, the Charming Tauber Valley is full of picturesque scenery, making it one of Germany's classic long-distance cycling tours. The route crosses a particularly charming landscape and is largely traffic-free and level, making it ideal for beginners and families with children.

Bronnbach abbey seen in its picturesque surroundings

GPS data has already been created for this route. This data can be programmed into any current GPS system to enable you to find your way around at all times. The absence of steep inclines makes cycling from one place to the next a breeze. There are a number of stone bridges placed at regular intervals, enabling you to cross the river Tauber at your leisure along the way. You can take a stroll around the palace gardens in Weikersheim, or around the old towns of Bad Mergentheim or Tauberbischofsheim. Stopping off in Rothenburg is like stepping back into the Middle Ages. Alternatively, you can pick up some history at the County Museum in Wertheim or visit the abbey in Bronnbach which is still inhabited today. It's also worth stopping off along the way to visit the Franconian cathedral in Boxberg-Wölchingen and Neuhaus Castle Ruins near Igersheim.
