Major Events January 2007

Jan 06
Garmisch-Partenkirchen - 38th Bavarian Championship 'Horn sleigh Race'
This event is 'a Gaudi' - basically, Bavarian for fantastic fun - as teams of four race down an iced piste on ancient peasant sleighs. A sense of the bizarre imbues this competition as more than 100 Hornschlitten (literally, "horn runners") teams battle for the Bavarian championship. It's a fabulous spectacle when the ancient vehicles are at full tilt, as their screaming drivers frequently lose team members at steep passages or turns. The Horn sleigh Race is a peerless event, attracting teams from all over the Alps.
