Sports and romance

Castle and theatre Rheinsberg
Heading north on the Upper Havel brings you to the rivers and lakes near Templin and Lychen, areas favoured by people touring on the water because of their tranquility and secluded woodland. The rivers and lakes near Neuruppin are a real insider's tip: canals, lakes and the tiny river Rhin - 80 kilometres of waterways in all, just waiting to be enjoyed. Near Rheinsberg is a mosaic of coves and clear source lakes linked by short sections of canal - excellent for motor yachts and houseboats. You must go ashore at Rheinsberg to see the attractive castle that inspired Kurt Tucholsky's enchanting love story. And for many of these waterways you don't even need a licence to pilot a boat.
