Wonders of Nature and Wine along the Ahr

Map of the Ahr river
The Ahr valley is the northern-most red wine paradise in Germany. It is a small wine growing area, nevertheless based on tradition, as viticulture has been practised for over a thousand years in the Ahr valley. Stony witnesses of this history are the old wine-growing terraces, which seem to cling to the steep slopes like swallows' nests. Following the bike route through the Ahr valley you will have many opportunities to taste the Ahr wine at the end of the day.

Enchanting towns like Altenahr and Mayschoß invite you to explore this picturesque valley. In the elegant spa town of Bad Neuenahr the croupiers at the casino have got the hang of it. "Rien ne va plus" only applies to the roulette table by the way; apart from that the town endeavours to fulfil all the visitors' desires. If you wish to experience unspoilt countryside, the Eifel hills are well worth a visit. Here quiet forests, water-filled maars as smooth as glass and gold coloured broom await you in a nature reserve endowed with a large variety of species - a landscape where you can leave your worldly worries behind.
