Lake Edersee - a "blue eye"?

Boats on Lake Edersee
In the heart of Hessen's densely forested Waldecker Land region is a sprawling lakeland with more than 1,500 hectares of water. This Edersee holiday region is known as the area's "blue eye". With dense woodland all around, Lake Edersee is well hidden. Water sports enthusiasts come here for the excellent swimming, sailing and windsurfing. It is also a popular destination for divers, who can observe the remains of an old village as well as the fish.

Sporting activity, then relaxation

Water sports in lush forests where the air is amazingly fresh. This is what has made Lake Diemelsee and Lake Twistesee so popular. As well as the more traditional water sports - swimming, sailing, windsurfing, diving, touring on the water and angling - you can also go walking, cycling, riding, hang-gliding, play golf or ride in a hot-air balloon. A donkey trek is another option. After the sporting exertions, you can relax. Selected hotels offer a wide choice of wellness packages, and the popular spa resorts of Bad Arolsen and Bad Wildungen cater for the most discerning tastes.
