Locally, Lake Biggesee is a great favourite with water sports fans, but it also deserves a wider reputation. Swimming, pedalos, windsurfing, sailing, angling and diving are all available in the summer. You can go walking or cycling at any time of the year, or take a stroll along the banks of Gilberg island. Or should we say creep? Because the last thing we want to do is scare away the birds, mammals and aquatic birds that are to be found in this nature conservation area. Not far away is the Atta cave, which has stalagmites and stalactites up to four metres in length.

When the Möhne reservoir was built, it created the biggest lake in North Rhine-Westphalia. Sailors, windsurfers, swimmers, anglers and people on boats have a choice between two beaches - Delecke and Wamel - and several beautiful open-access swimming areas in Körbecke. If the combination of water and the mountains appeals, why not come to Lake Sorpesee in the highlands of the Homert Nature Reserve? This is the perfect place to play golf, walk and get some fresh air into your lungs at last.
Lake Hennesee is great for water sports and well situated for local attractions. Enjoy the thrills of the amusement parks, see Meschede's Benedictine Königsmünster abbey and workshops, Ramsbeck ore mine and the Kahler Asten, the highest peak in North Rhine-Westphalia.
