Towns and cities by the sea - constantly changing: vibrant, maritime and with a strong tradition

Galloping on the mudflats at Cuxhaven
Maybe you already know Hamburg and Bremen? Then you should come to the North Sea health resort of Cuxhaven, which hosts a number of sporting events in the summer. Or to Greetsiel - a village whose tiny old houses and narrow winding streets give it a special doll's house charm. Or perhaps your interest is in maritime travel? In that case, Bremerhaven is a must. Bremerhaven is home to the German Maritime Museum which has a remarkable fleet of museum ships and the oldest cog in the world. There is also the Schaufenster Fischereihafen, the fishing port tourist centre. The great attraction at St. Peter-Ording is the widest beach on Germany's North Sea coast. For people in the know, it is the place to go windsurfing. And what about Husum? Well, to mention just a couple of examples, it has a charming old harbour and visitors can take a carriage ride across the amazing mudflats.
