Guesthouses and Inns

Guesthouses and inns offer good-value accommodation in a friendly, informal atmosphere. Costing less than hotels, their furnishings are more basic and service is limited to room cleaning. Pensions do not generally have a hotel-style kitchen, so the only meal they provide is breakfast. Vacant rooms are often advertised with a "Zimmer frei" (vacancies) sign on the edge of the road or in a window of the house itself.
