Since the reunification of Germany in 1990, the Federal Republic of Germany covers an area of 137 838 square miles (which equals the size of Montana) and is the 7th largest European Country. Furthermore, Germany has the largest population of  all members of the European Union (EU). From the northernmost tip to the southernmost point it stretches 544 miles, and 398 miles from east to west.
