The tin foundry established here in 1792 is the oldest tin workshop still in operation in Saxony. Visitors are invited to take a journey back through the history of Saxon tin casting in this historical setting. Germany's earliest example of a purely residential castle, the late Gothic Albrechtsburg sits in splendour overlooking the picturesque Elbe valley. Today, Albrechtsburg Castle is a museum featuring particularly impressive architecture and a 19th-century series of murals depicting historical events in Saxony and at the castle itself. The museum also has a permanent exhibition on Meissen porcelain.
