Based very loosely on the legend of King Arthur, the story sees the king, his faithful companion Patsy and the knights of the Round Table set out on a quest for the holy grail. But first Arthur has to track down his knights in 932 AD Britain, leading to hilarious encounters with a host of endearing oddball characters. During their exciting journey the knights of the Round Table stop off in a glittering casino, are entertained by showgirls, and Sir Lancelot turns out to be a Copacabana dancer. Their quest soon becomes a real adventure.

The plot of the musical is based on the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and the show also features some of the British comedy group's other famous songs and sketches, such as Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. There are over 20 songs in the musical, and the audience can be relied on to join in on a number of occasions.

As well as being a reference to Camelot, the musical's title, SPAMALOT, alludes to the canned meat product featured ad nauseam in Monty Python's famous Spam sketch, which is also the origin of the use of the word for unsolicited bulk email messages sent mostly for advertising purposes.

Since its world premiere on Broadway in March 2005 the musical has been a huge success, winning several Tony Awards among others. Audiences can expect an evening of non-stop gags and hilarity.
