The castle lies picturesquely on the banks of the River Elbe in Pillnitz Park. With its flying buttresses and chimneys ornamented with crowns, this is the only castle of its size in Europe in Chinese style. The castle's park is laid out with gardens designed to reflect the variety of eras. Don't miss the Pillnitz Greenhouses, where 250-year-old banks of flowering Camelias are a riot of 35,000 scarlet blooms in the spring.
