Food & drink

Würzburg Beer garden, copyright Andreas Hub
Famous vineyard sites and prestigious wine estates have established Würzburg's reputation as the heart of the Franconian wine region. Traditional wine taverns and quaint bars serving hearty Franconian fare are the ideal place to stop and rest a while.

Bürgerspital wine-growing estate
The Bürgerspital zum Heiligen Geist winery with its excellent wine taverns is situated in an absolutely beautiful courtyard in the heart of Würzburg, close to the Residenz Palace, the market square, the cathedral and the theatre. It's a perfect spot to meet for a drink after work, after the theatre or simply when you feel like enjoying a glass of wine and a snack in a relaxed atmosphere.

Le Clochard
Even in summer when the open fire is not lit, the atmosphere in Le Clochard is always warm and welcoming with its Breton-style decor, lovely old furniture and a menu with more than a little French influence. Just a few minutes' walk from the university and technical college, you can really push the boat out here. As you take your seat it soon becomes apparent that Le Clochard is a small restaurant that's passionate about detail.

Weinstein
A rustic yet contemporary restaurant with bare brick walls in a small converted winery serving regional products prepared in a fusion of mediterranean and oriental styles.
