Art & culture

Regensburg Domspatzen boys' choir, copyright Regensburg Tourist Information
Like the cathedral and the Stone Bridge, the Domspatzen boys' choir is an essential part of Regensburg life and a cultural ambassador for the town. At the Festival of Early Music, works from the Middle Ages to the Romantic period are performed in historical venues. The Regensburg Dance Festival and Short Film Festival have also had much critical acclaim.

The Regensburg Short Film Festival
The Regensburg Short Film Festival takes place every November. It is devoted exclusively to short films. There is also a fringe programme where the focus is on specific themes and countries, plus presentations by film academies and other festivals.

“Leerer Beutel” municipal art gallery
This former grain store dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries hosts regularly changing temporary exhibitions. The main area of interest is “20th century fine arts in Eastern Bavaria”, featuring the works of Josef Achmann, Kurt von Unruh, Xaver Fuhr and the “Spur” group of artists.

The Regensburger Domspatzen boys' choir
The Regensburger Domspatzen boys' choir, one of the best-known and oldest cathedral choirs in the world, has achieved fame and acclaim far beyond the realms of the church itself. The choir performs in the cathedral, the Great Hall and at other major events.
