Oppenheim's captivating Theatre Festival takes place every September.Ingelheim Red Wine Festival
Held on the last weekend in September to the first weekend in October, this annual event takes place on the town's Burgkirchen festival grounds. One of the largest wine celebrations in Rheinhessen, it is opened by the reigning Red Wine Queen and her princesses. This nine-day party, which culminates in a dazzling firework display, features a marching band, food and wine stalls and a huge festival marquee. Nibelung Festival in Worms
The Nibelung Festival in Worms is held every August as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate Summer of Culture. Plays are performed on an open-air stage in romantic Heylshof Park overlooked by the town's cathedral. When darkness falls, the whole area is bathed in a bewitching light that's an attraction in itself.
